Shrink Disc
The main function of the shrink disk is to securely couple the shaft and hub together by friction. For example, between the drive shaft and the transmission hollow shaft. The shrink disc creates a backlash-free connection by pressing the hub on the shaft. This connection is mainly used to transmit torque and the shrink disc only provides the required force and does not transmit force or torque between the shaft and the hub itself, so the force flow don't pass it. It is installed by sliding the shrink disk onto the hollow shaft and tightening the screws.
The clamping force is built up by compressing the inner ring through the tapered surface, reducing the inner diameter and increasing the radial pressure, which is provided and controlled by the locking screw. This is able to directly compensate for the gap between the shaft and the hub, avoiding overload.

REACH® Shrink disc Application Examples
REACH® Shrink disc Types
-
REACH 14
Standard series—this range is used in most applications. High transmission values are possible, and by varying the tightening torque of the screws, the shrink disc can be adapted to the design specifications.
-
REACH 41
Heavy load shrink disc
Slit inner ring – low losses and pressure on the hub
Wider structure with particularly strong outer rings
Very high transmission torque -
REACH 43
Lighter version for moderate
Three-part shrink disc
The narrow pressure rings require only a very small space.
Particularly suited for thin hubs and hollow shafts -
REACH47
Two-part shrink disc
Appropriate for heavy duty
Convenient assembly and disassembly
High co-axial degree for higher rotation speed supported by compact structure
